Mike Ryan- Evermine Album Launch Show
Mike Ryan is launching his latest album “Evermine”
Evermine is the new album by Mike Ryan. Written and recorded at home on a Korg D888 8-track between the summers of 2025 and 2026, this is Mike’s most personal and honest set of songs yet.
“After recording my last album ‘The Space Where You Should Be’ at Crosstown Studios, I wanted to make something more organic and homemade this time around. The only rules I had for writing and recording this time were that it had to sound real and human and that I didn’t want any of the songs to sound like anything I had done before. It had to analogue and it had to push me as a songwriter. I love artists like PJ Harvey and St. Vincent where every album has a very clear identity and a different sound. They are constantly reinventing themselves and that’s exactly what I tried to do on this record. The first song I wrote, ‘Here We Are’, very much set the template for the whole album. It was built around a sample of my Nan and Auntie singing at a family party from about 40 years ago. They are no longer with us and singing along with them when I recorded my vocals was an incredibly moving experience. It opened up a completely new way of writing, taking found sounds and samples and weaving them into new songs. It also gave the album its theme and direction. These songs are about family, time and about how temporary and fleeting everything is. It’s about embracing each moment, every experience and trying to make sense of love and loss, life and death. It’s also about reconnecting with the past and understanding where you’ve come from and what makes you who you are. I am prouder of this album than anything I’ve ever done before. It is the most ambitious and most emotionally honest record that I’ve ever made and I’ve found the whole process so beautifully cathartic. This is the album that I’ve always wanted to make. This is Evermine.”
