Igloo Hearts; refreshing classic & folk charm

Originating from Wrexham, the captivating duo Igloo Hearts brings a refreshing sound to the music scene.

The married pair, James (guitar/vocals) and Katie MacGregor (piano/vocals), infuse their work with originality and charm. Their music is built around classical piano and alluring chord progressions, blending impeccable harmonies with a refined sense of musicianship. Drawing inspiration from artists like Jesca Hoop, Mitski, Radiohead, and Kate Bush, they seamlessly merge classical and folk influences with contemporary energy.

Their talent hasn’t gone unnoticed—Igloo Hearts have made their mark in both the Purbeck Folk Rising and Liverpool Songwriting competitions, and have enjoyed extensive airplay on BBC Introducing and regional radio stations. Katie’s performance on Channel 4’s The Piano (Series 2) left a lasting impression, with judge Mika declaring it among the best piano and vocal auditions they had seen.

The duo has shared stages with esteemed performers including Michele Stodart of The Magic Numbers, Welsh Music Prize winner The Gentle Good, and BBC radio’s Mark Radcliffe in sold-out performances. They have also captivated audiences in prominent acoustic venues such as the Liverpool Philharmonic, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, as well as intimate churches and theatres. Their work extends to collaborative projects with choirs, featuring specially commissioned pieces crafted by Igloo Hearts.

With their unique blend of classical and modern influences, Igloo Hearts create performances that are not only exciting and beautiful but also deeply emotive and truly unforgettable.
